Medalta

Medalta started in 1915 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and was a working business for almost 40 years.  Medalta pottery comes in myriad forms, from industrial pieces like hydro insulators to commercial pieces like crocks, chicken feeders, and butter churns to the other end of the spectrum highly decorative objects including vases, bowls, lamps, and even figurines (which are very uncommon and

reminiscent of Doulton figurines).  Medalta potteries come in many ground variations, from a plaster base to stoneware all the way to a chinalike ceramic. Highly collectible objects include basketweave yellowware sold in Eatons in the 30s and 40s; also popular with collectors are restaurantware pieces. These range from the Canadian Pacific and

Canadian National railways dining car pieces which appeal to railroad

collectors to the RCAF and military restaurantware.
